Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Cousin Jim Fishing (“we,” “us,” or “Cousin Jim”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you visit cousinjim.com, place an order, or contact us. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

  • Order & contact information. When you make a purchase or reach out to us, we collect your name, email address, shipping address, and the details of your order. Contact-form and email messages you send us are also collected.
  • Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number and payment details are entered on Stripe’s secure checkout page and are handled directly by Stripe — we never see, receive, or store your full card number. We only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, along with your order and shipping details.
  • Usage & device information. Like most websites, we automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and how you interact with the site. We use Google Analytics for this (see “Cookies and analytics” below).

How we use your information

  • To process, fulfill, and ship your orders.
  • To send you order confirmations and respond to your questions.
  • To operate, maintain, and improve the website and our products.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and other unlawful activity.
  • To comply with our legal and tax obligations.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as your IP address and browsing activity. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy.

How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the store, and only as needed to provide their service:

  • Stripe — payment processing and order-confirmation receipt emails.
  • Netlify — website hosting and delivery.
  • Google Analytics — website usage analytics.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Cousin Jim, our customers, or others.

Data retention

We keep order and contact information for as long as needed to fulfill your order, provide customer support, and meet our legal, tax, and accounting requirements. We may retain some information longer where required by law.

Your choices and rights

You may request to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to stop contacting you, by emailing jim@cousinjim.com. Depending on where you live (for example, California residents under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights regarding your personal information. We will respond to verified requests as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Children’s privacy

Our site and products are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including processing all payments through Stripe over encrypted connections. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the site after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
